The Fabrini were a humanoid species virtually indistinguishable from humans that originated on the planet Fabrina. Around the year 7,268 BCE the star in that planetary system entered the beginning stages of a supernova. In order to survive, the Fabrini relocated underground. A handful of them -- known as the Creators -- built a spacecraft called the Yonada and selected the most worthy candidates from their species to crew the vessel. The Yonada was sent into space. Those aboard the vessel were the only ones to survive the destruction of their homeworld.
The fate of Fabrina and those aboard the planet was well known to galactic historians by 3268 CE -- however, the existence of the Yonada was unknown. The vessel was discovered when it was mistaken for an asteroid on a collision course with the populated planet Daran V. The USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) was sent to stop the asteroid, and discovered a population of Fabrini people aboard - -the last survivors of their species.
The Fabrini aboard the Yonada had lost much of their own history. They believed the computer controlling their ship was a god, which they called the Oracle of the People. Despite losing so much, they had developed sophisticated medicine -- including a cure for xenopolycythemia.
The crew of the Enterprise was able to alter the navigational error that had put Daran V in danger and deactive the Oracle of the People so that the Fabrini might make their own way in the galaxy.
