Jack -- formerly known as Timothy Lawrence -- is a body double of Handsome Jack. In order to pay off his student loans, Timothy underwent cosmetic surgery to become an identical replica of Handsome Jack. The surgery was performed by Dr. Autohn. Following the surgery, he was legally forbidden from ever revealing his real name.
Despite his irrational fear of heights, Jack was a member of a group of Vault Hunters who helped Handsome Jack on Helios.
