Landru was the leader of the people of Beta III around the year 2,733 BCE. He was a gifted philosopher and a talented engineer. During his rise to power, his people were torn apart by war and conflict. He sought to bring an end to violence, war, and even to disease and crime -- he wanted to create a world with no evils in it.
To that end, Landru constructed a supercomputer and gave it his identity. The computer would control the planet in order to create a paradise.
