Space madness -- or transmissible spatial dementia is an infection that can be contracted in space -- particularly in and around Tormented Space. It is transmitted by particles found in radiation. Typically, it is identified by random and involuntary bodily functions as this is one of the first, and most obvious, symptoms.
The Khurtanans are especially afraid of the illness, and as such seldom leave their home planet and screen all visitors from space for the disease.
